A mockup of a rhythm game with NES-style graphics with four different colored skeletons.

Skeleton Dance Dance Revolution

Feb 26, 2015

If I remember correctly, this was for a monthly event on some pixel art site or another. I’ve been on so many different websites over the years.

It’s retro on three different levels from three different eras!

First, it’s based on The Skeleton Dance, a Silly Symphony animation from 1929.

Second, the colors are all colors that were available on the Nintendo Entertainment System. I think I made it in the resolution of NES games, too, if I remember correctly. I don’t think it fully adheres to the sprite limitations, but this was just something I was making for fun, not an actual game I was trying to make.

Third, it’s a mockup of a demake of Dance Dance Revolution. Which, sadly, I must admit is considered retro now.
