Hi, I'm Angel!
Welcome to my weird little corner of the internet.
I'm Angel, a millennial living in West Virginia who answers to any pronouns. I write stories and essays, make games, create art (especially pixel art), and fully embrace being a chaotic little gremlin who plays by my own rules.
I grew up in the era of personal web pages, pixel dolls, blinkies, and webrings and I'm doing my part to bring back some of that quirky, handmade energy while building toward a more personalized, less centralized web.
What I'm About
Writing about myself is hard, because I don't fit into any neat little boxes, nor do I really care to. I exist both as the person who sees humor in everything and the person who will spend hours analyzing the deeper meaning of a single meme. I am complex and multifaceted and I think trying to shove myself into one niche would be a waste of some of the juiciest parts of my essence. People should be bold and unique and not be made to feel like they can only follow one of their dreams.
One of the first things people often ask when meeting someone new is, "So, what do you do?" But I don't define myself by what I do for work. I've worn many different hats, and while I think each has contributed to how I see the world, none of the things I have ever done for money have ever answered the question, "What do you do?" better than the things that I do out of love, obsession, or sheer curiosity.
So what do I do?
A lot.
I read anything I can get my hands on. I write compulsively, like it's the only thing keeping my brain alive. I've been obsessed with pixel art since I was a child growing up in the nineties. I code web pages for fun. I dabble in just about every creative pursuit imaginable, and I have to remind myself not to buy a ton of art supplies for a new hobby I haven't even started yet at least a few times a year. I code because thinking in logic comes naturally to me and making the computer do what I want is insanely satisfying. I make games (and occasionally even finish them). I am constantly making things because that is what makes me feel alive.
I've done many odd jobs, worked in retail, tried to live off of art commissions, and spent years working for the federal government. I left that job in early 2025 because it was becoming increasingly difficult to balance working outside of the home with taking care of my husband, who has chronic health issues. Now I am working toward building a life that balances all of the things that matter to me.
These days, I pay the bills by training AI (I know, it's controversial, and I have a lot of Thoughts about it) and I am currently working toward getting a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, because I believe the tech world needs more people who care about ethics more than profit.
My Core Values
These are the guiding principles that drive everything that I do:
- Empathy - Every person deserves kindness, respect, and dignity, no matter who they are. I care deeply about human rights, and I believe in lifting the voices of marginalized people. Diversity is truly one of the greatest strengths of our civilization and I stand against injustice, inequality, cruelty, bigotry, and prejudice in all forms.
- Curiosity - I believe that the pursuit of knowledge is foundational to living an ethical life. A well-intentioned person can do a lot of harm if they put too much faith in misinformation. The outcomes of ignorance and malice are often indistinguishable. That's why I hold intellectual honesty and media literacy in such high regard. It is vital to question everything, especially that which we are told is above questioning. (Also: learning is just fun.)
- Creative Expression - Nothing feeds my soul like wrangling the intangible pieces of myself into something that can be shared with humanity. I live to make. I make to live. I truly believe that it is my calling to weave ideas into art that can change people's perspectives, and possibly even the world.
- Collaboration - I take seriously my role as a member of society. I learn and grow from working alongside the people around me, and in return I want to help others learn and grow as well. When we tap into the vast wealth of human experience, we go further than we ever could alone, and when we work together, we can build bigger and more beautiful creations than an individual could ever imagine being capable of.
- Self-Care - The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to take care of myself so that I can be there for those around me. I strive to give the world a version of me that is fully present and capable of upholding everything that I stand for. Whether it's practicing mindfulness, or making sure I get a good workout in, I feel best when I commit to the things that keep my body and mind strong.
My mission is to create things that could only be born of my soul. To share knowledge and spark curiosity. To make space for others who don't fit into neat little boxes. It is my hope that by doing so, I can carve a little corner in this world that is kinder, more thoughtful, and more conscious of the things that we feed our minds.
About This Site
Some time in 2024, I saw a YouTube video from LuvstarKei that opened my eyes to the resurgence of the personal website. I got sucked into a rabbit hole, learning about Neocities, the Indie Web, and how to use RSS readers to follow content creators I actually care about. It was exciting and eye opening, and I felt compelled to create a site of my own.
When I first got this domain, I originally had a WordPress site, which was handy for being able to post content quickly and easily, but after struggling to bash WordPress into something a little less corporate-feeling, I realized I yearn for something more handmade. And so I have moved to a static site built with Astro. It's a little more work, but it gives me much more freedom to make something that is my own, while still being able to include dynamic content. I chose Nekoweb to host my site, because I like the overall vibe and sense of community.
What You'll Find Here
Whatever tickles my fancy.
Writing, ranging from the little thoughts that seemed too insignificant to share anywhere else, to the ones that were too big to be contained in the comment sections of the websites that prompted them. Expect reflections, current events, fact-checks, deep dives, life updates, and random musings. I might even start writing fiction again. We'll see.
I'll post some art, on occasion. Pixel art, illustrations, experimental stuff. My style tends to be colorful, whimsical, and more based in fantasy than the real world.
This site will also be where I'll host things like javascript games and toys. I'll be honest, that's like 75% of the reason I've been wanting to move away from WordPress. I am still learning, but making is the best way to learn.
What You Won't Find Here
Misinformation. I am meticulous about checking my facts. I am committed to making sure any information I share comes from a reliable source, and I will provide links whenever possible. I believe that misinformation and the rise of anti-intellectualism are two of the biggest threats to our society, and I'm here to fight both.
AI-generated slop. I'm as frustrated as anyone else about how much of the internet is filled with AI-generated content these days. I'm wordy, and I'd probably overuse em-dashes too if they were as easy to type as a comma, semi-colon, or parentheses, but I'm all human and I'm a firm believer in the value of original thought. If I do include AI-generated content on my site (for example, for demonstrative purposes in an article about AI) it will be clearly marked, the same as I would mark quotes or images from any other source.
Algorithm-friendly content. I'm just here to be me. I don't care for following trends, sticking to a niche, or trying to be someone I'm not. I would rather post something genuine and have it reach one person that actually cares than churn out mind-numbing content for millions.
If all that sounds like something you'd like, feel free to explore and stick around for a while. I've got an RSS feed, if you want to follow my updates.

Collabs & Commissions
I am not currently open for commissions. I know myself well enough to know that my life is too full at the moment to commit to anything new. If that changes I will update this section.
